Ichi v0.1.0 Public Beta

Privacy

What Ichi keeps on your device, how the website uses aggregate analytics, and how form submissions are handled.

In short

  • Your documents stay in the folders you choose. There is no account and no cloud document service.
  • The Ichi desktop app has no analytics, advertising or automatic telemetry.
  • The website uses cookie-free Vercel Web Analytics for aggregate page statistics.
  • The product walkthrough is hosted by Publitio and loads only when you choose to play it.
  • Local settings and Time Machine history stay on your device.
  • External links and remote images only reach third-party servers when you choose to use them.
  • Contact and bug-report forms send the information you enter, together with the ordinary request data needed to deliver and protect the form.

Your documents

Ichi opens Markdown files from folders you choose and saves changes back to those same files. It does not import them into a proprietary library, require an account, or sync them to a cloud service. Ichi does not upload local Markdown documents. Your filesystem stays the source of truth.

Settings and recent work

Editor preferences, appearance choices and recent-project information are stored locally on your Windows device so Ichi can reopen where you left off. Some of these records include local folder paths.

Time Machine history

Time Machine keeps a local version history of your documents so you can look back and recover from ordinary editing mistakes. It is stored on your device while you work, and Ichi does not upload it. Time Machine is local version history, not a backup, so keep independent copies of important files.

You stay in control: Settings lets you pause new history and clear all history, and each project can clear its own history. Clearing removes the selected history from Ichi. For complete removal, clear history before uninstalling and keep your own backups.

When Ichi uses the network

Reading and editing local documents works offline. Ichi v0.1.0 does not check for updates on its own and never downloads or installs them by itself. It makes no startup version request.

A few actions can reach the network, and only when you choose them:

  • Opening an external link takes you to that website in your default browser.
  • Remote images stay blocked until you allow them for a workspace; once allowed, the image host receives ordinary request information such as your device's IP address.

This website and form submissions

Ichi does not use advertising or cross-site tracking, and its fonts are hosted locally.

The product walkthrough is hosted by Publitio. It is not loaded until you choose to play it. When playback begins, Publitio may receive ordinary technical request information, such as your IP address, browser and device details, needed to deliver the video.

The website uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate page usage. It does not use cookies. Vercel may process the page visited, referrer, approximate location, browser, operating system and device type to produce aggregated statistics. Query strings and URL fragments are removed before analytics events are sent.

Vercel creates a short-lived visitor identifier from request information. It resets after 24 hours and is not used to track people across different websites. Ichi records page views only. It does not send form contents, custom interaction events or activity from the desktop app to Vercel Analytics.

The contact and bug-report forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to reduce automated abuse. Form submissions are delivered by email using Cloudflare, Resend and Google Workspace. These services may process technical information needed to secure and deliver the submission.

When you send a form, the information you enter is used only to reply to your enquiry, provide support, investigate a bug or protect the service. It is not added to a newsletter, marketing list or beta-licensing database. Submissions may remain in normal email and delivery records according to the providers’ retention policies.

The forms do not access or attach your local Markdown files. If a form is unavailable, the page provides a direct email address instead.
